Nuralene · A little silk knowledge
Care for your silk scarf.
A little care helps preserve the print, drape and delicate finish of your scarf. Start with the care label supplied with your piece; it takes priority over general silk-care advice.
Between wears.
Let your scarf rest in a clean, dry place before putting it away. Fold it loosely rather than compressing it into a tight knot. Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from damp storage. Avoid leaving it hanging from a sharp hook that could catch the weave.
Protect the fabric and hems.
Be mindful of sharp jewellery, rough bag hardware and pins when styling silk. Tie gently and loosen knots carefully after wear. The hand-rolled edge is part of the scarf’s finish: avoid pulling on it when tightening or adjusting a knot.
Apply perfume and let skincare dry before putting on your scarf. Keep silk away from products that could leave marks, and handle it with clean hands.
Cleaning starts with the label.
Silk scarves can differ in their dyes, print finishes and care requirements. Do not assume that advice for another silk garment applies to yours. Follow your scarf’s care label before washing, steaming or ironing.
For a spill or stain, avoid rubbing, bleach and household stain treatments. Ask a professional cleaner experienced with printed silk for advice, or contact [email protected] with the scarf name and care-label details. We can help clarify the instructions for your piece.
Twill and satin deserve the same attention.
Nuralene’s Azure Keepsake and Mint Reverie are 18 momme twill. Meadow Poem, Evening Bloom and Wild Grace are 19 momme satin. Both are 100% mulberry silk with hand-rolled hems. Their different sheen and drape do not replace the cleaning instructions on the label.
